Hello · About
I'm Michelle.
You're here in my Meadow, virtually, but the mud is real.
I garden on a quarter acre in the suburbs of Northeast Florida, Zone 9B, on a lot that slopes in ways that keep things interesting. I started gardening here six years ago. Today it holds more than 80 fruit trees and shrubs, a row of tall metal beds I can tend without bending over, a banana circle that drinks up the rain, a compost bin I built myself, and two former feral cats named Moose and Baby Face.
I'm not an expert gardener. I started this channel in 2022 because I couldn't find anyone comparing the two metal raised beds I was deciding between, so I bought both, built them alone, and filmed it. That's still how I do everything here. I try it, I show you what happened, and I tell you the good, the bad, and the ugly, including the parts where the mistake was mine.
Companies send me things to review now. I say yes to a few and no to plenty, and when I don't like something, I say so, commission or not. You'll always know which is which.
The videos are where most of it lives. On the first Sunday of every month at 7PM Eastern I go live from the garden to share what's growing on and answer your questions. In between there are tours where nothing gets tidied up first, long-term reviews of beds that have been in the Florida sun for years, and the occasional rescue of something I forgot in a dark corner.
If you garden somewhere colder, stick around anyway. Any date I give you is mine, not yours. The methods travel, the calendar doesn't.
The big plan is 500 edible trees and shrubs on the land across the creek, all grown from cuttings, because I am not buying 500 trees. A good bit of what I grow ends up in the Thai cooking Mrs. Michelle and I do at home. That's the whole reason the galangal gets a second chance.
Until next time, my friends: drink plenty of water, wear that high-quality sunscreen, and have a fantastic day.
