First Time Using a Tactical Shovel in the Garden | First Impressions Digging Out the Garden Bed

March 28, 2023 by Michelle Leave a Comment

I gave this little tactical shovel quite a little workout this morning. Check out the video and tell me: what do you think? Is this a practical garden tool?

Merry Christmas to me! This year I bought myself a gift from Little Brown Squirrel. I used it to dig out an old garden bed that needed some amending. Don't worry: I repurposed that old dirt!

A tactical shovel is a versatile tool designed for multiple purposes, making it useful in various situations. My primary purpose is, of course, gardening. I use it for digging holes for planting, removing weeds, edging, and cultivating soil.

However, here is a list of additional uses for this nifty tool:

  1. Survival and Outdoor Activities: Tactical shovels are popular among outdoor enthusiasts, campers, hikers, and survivalists. They provide a compact and lightweight tool that can be used for tasks like digging fire pits, clearing pathways, building shelters, and creating latrines in the wilderness.
  2. Emergency Preparedness: Tactical shovels are part of many emergency kits and bug-out bags due to their versatility. They can be used for emergency snow removal, clearing debris after natural disasters, or digging out a stuck vehicle.
  3. Camping and Hunting: When camping or hunting, a tactical shovel can come in handy for tasks such as digging fire pits, burying waste, preparing a hunting blind, or clearing brush.
  4. Versatility and Portability: Tactical shovels are designed to be lightweight and compact, allowing for easy portability. They often feature collapsible or folding handles, making them convenient for carrying in backpacks or attaching to belts or gear.

It's important to note that while tactical shovels offer a range of functionalities, they are not meant to replace specialized tools for specific tasks. However, their multi-purpose design makes them a valuable tool in various situations where carrying multiple individual tools may not be practical or feasible.
