Birdies Raised Garden Bed Labor Day Sale Coupon Code MEADOW-LD

August 31, 2023 by Michelle Leave a Comment

If you have been thinking about adding Birdies Raised Garden Beds to your garden, Epic Gardening is having a Labor Day sale. You can save up to 50% off select Birdies Raised Garden Beds and take an ADDITIONAL 5% off your entire order using the code MEADOW-LD. Using our link here helps support this website as we'll receive a small commission for the referral. I'm not just another garden blogger, I am a die hard fan of Birdies.

I have had these metal garden beds in my home garden for 18 months now, and I cannot wait to add even more. I chose the 30″ version for my spring annuals, and I grew sweet potatoes over the winter. The height made my life so much easier after shoulder surgery and it really was nice to harvest sweet potatoes standing up.

Growing Sweet Potatoes in a Birdies Raised Garden Bed

Aside from the height, I am happy to know that this purchase is going to last. The quality construction has been proven for more than 15 years in gardens around the globe. And as a gardener of a certain age, that means I can still garden in these Birdies beds when I am well into my 70s.

Here are just a few more reasons to choose taller raised garden beds:

The Advantages of Waist-High Raised Garden Beds for the 55+ Gardener

Gardening is an activity cherished by many, offering both physical and mental health benefits. But as we age, the traditional methods of gardening can become strenuous. Enter waist-high raised garden beds – the solution to making gardening a delightful endeavor at any age. Here's why a raised garden bed can be the best choice for those in their 55+ years.

Ease of Access
One of the most significant benefits of a waist-high garden bed is the ease of access. No more bending or stooping excessively, a common strain that can be hard on the back and joints. These elevated beds bring the garden to you, alleviating potential discomfort and making the gardening experience more enjoyable.

Soil Perfection
In a raised garden bed, you have the luxury to tailor your soil's quality and composition. Whether the native soil in your locality is sandy, clayey, or rocky, with a raised bed, you can ensure your plants get the best medium to thrive.

Mastering Drainage
One common gardening challenge is ensuring proper soil drainage. Raised beds inherently offer superior drainage than traditional in-ground plots. This means less likelihood of overwatering, preventing roots from rotting and ensuring plants are healthier.

The Minimalist Approach to Weeding
With the use of fresh, clean soil and the elevation off the ground, gardeners often find that raised beds have fewer weeds than their in-ground counterparts. Less time weeding means more time enjoying your beautiful plants and the fruits of your labor.

Deter Those Pests
A bonus of having an elevated garden is the natural deterrence of some ground pests. It becomes more difficult for critters to access your plants. And if you find that some pests are still a problem, adding barriers or netting around a raised bed is a simple task.

Extended Blooms and Harvest
The soil in raised beds warms up more quickly as spring dawns and retains its warmth longer into the fall. This can potentially give you a more extended growing season, letting you enjoy your garden blooms and harvest for even longer.

Efficient Use of Space
Not all of us have sprawling yards. Raised garden beds can be designed to fit various spaces, be it a small yard, patio, or even a balcony. This efficient use of space ensures that even urban gardeners can enjoy the pleasures of cultivating plants.

Beauty in the Garden
Beyond their functional advantages, raised beds can be a stunning addition to any garden or yard. With some thought into design and materials, they can be both a focal point and a statement of style.

Promotion of Physical Health
Gardening in itself is therapeutic. With the convenience and comfort of a waist-high bed, gardening becomes a gentle, yet effective form of exercise. It promotes better circulation, flexibility, and overall well-being without the undue strain.

Mental Oasis
Lastly, let's not forget the mental health benefits of gardening. It's a known stress reducer, mood enhancer, and cognitive booster. The more accessible and pleasant the gardening experience, the more likely you are to indulge in this therapeutic activity frequently.

In Conclusion
Whether you're a seasoned gardener looking for a more comfortable way to continue your passion or someone new to the hobby looking for an efficient and ergonomic method, waist-high raised garden beds are the answer. Especially for those in their 55+ years, these beds offer a seamless blend of functionality, beauty, and health benefits.

Happy gardening!
