Planting Asian Long Beans, Critters, Good Luck, and A Busy Week Around The Meadow VLOG

Planting Asian Long Beans, Critters, Good Luck, and A Busy Week Around The Meadow VLOG

We have had a beautiful amount of rain, and where I live, it’s been just enough to mean that I didn’t need to water this week – so I took advantage of that “free time” to catch up on some projects in the garden, try out a new tool, and some new technology, too.

Learn More About Asian Long Beans
Asian long beans are a delicious and versatile addition to even a beginner’s garden. In fact, it was the most prolific plant in my first year at the Meadow. Also known as yard-long beans, snake beans, or dragon beans, these beans get their name from their impressive length – up to three feet! They can be used in stir-fries, soups, and curries, or simply steamed and served with a little salt and pepper. Often I use the small thin ones chopped fresh into a salad. Asian long beans are easy to grow and can be planted directly in the ground or in larger containers. They prefer full sun and well-drained soil and will need to be watered regularly during the growing season. With a little care and attention, you can enjoy a bountiful harvest of Asian long beans all summer long!

About Michelle in the Meadow
I am a suburban gardener located in zone 9A in Northeast Florida. I started growing in this suburban lot in 2019 and have expanded the garden every year. In 2020 I started making Facebook Videos about the garden, and in 2022 created this YouTube channel. I enjoy making content about my garden, what I’m growing and learning, and from time to time, the general vlog, too.

About our Growing Season & Gardens
We have a 300+ day growing season in our area. We are currently growing in many raised garden beds of various sizes. We grow along both sides of the house, in grow bags, in the ground, in Greenstalk vertical planters, and pots on the patio.
